We have recently partnered with our chef and a well known sommelier, Daniel Gatay, to bring superior wine experiences to our wine enthusiasts.
The town spreads along the edge of the river Loire with the Chateau d'Amboise at one end of town and the streets spreading out below. You'll see is the church of St Florentin, built in the 15th century. Prior to this the inhabitants of Amboise went to the Collegiate church in the chateau grounds but in the 1470s King Louis XI lived in the chateau.
A short walk away on Rue Victor Hugo is the Chateau du Clos Lucé where Leonardo da Vinci lived from the age of 64 until he died.
You can visit the Chateau du Clos Lucé where you can see Leonardo's bedroom and admire frescoes painted by students of Leonardo who came to stay in Amboise.
Visit this historic royal residence partially designed by the brilliant Italian, Charles VIII. Inside you'll find a lacy, petite chapel where Leonardo supposedly is buried. This Gothic chapel comes with two fireplaces "to comfort the king" and two plaques "evoking the final resting place" of Leonardo.
Discovering the Loire Valley (both red and white wines) with a full wine tasting experience that includes a full tutorial on wine tasting and learning about the wines in the region. Enthusiasts will taste 6 wines all together, including a sparkling traditional method wine, compare a young Cabernet to a 25 year old one and also discover the magic of Chenin Blanc with the 2023, 1996 and 1975 vintages. Wines are accompanied by Loire valley goats cheese, honey and cold cuts.
Similar to option one, except this time, as well as the tutorial, we start with a young chenin blanc vintage and show how the wine ages with tastings of a 2010s vintage, 1996, 1989 and 1975. Our enthusiasts are treated to a vintage red and we conclude with a tasting of wine made in the same way during the 15th and 16th centuries. Wines are accompanied with Loire valley goats cheese, honey and cold cuts.
The same as option two, but this time truffled cheeses are also paired with the wines as well as either foie gras from a local producer or caviar from Sologne (both are possible of course). This is the only option requires 10 days advance notice to be able to secure and collect the caviar and/or foie gras.
